Ruth Landau

Hall of Fame Inductee #360
Port Orange, Florida

Co-owner Fryer’s Towing Service, Daytona Beach

Ruth has been active in the towing and recovery industry since 1988 when she married into the industry.  She and her husband Glenn Landau own Fryer’s Towing Service in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Ruth believes in and embraces training as a means of protecting drivers on the road while also improving driver skills and abilities. She is Professional Wrecker Operator of Florida certified for light-, medium- and heavy-duty towing.

Ruth became active in the PWOF Women’s Division in 1996. She served in several officer positions throughout the years, currently serving as President where she is instrumental in organizing and focusing the women’s group on fundraising for the support of PWOF. Under Ruth’s leadership, and with me as her humorous sidekick, the PWOF Women’s Division annual luncheon has grown from 30 attendees to 200+, drawing women from around the world. It has become a “must attend” for many women visiting the Florida Tow Show.

In addition to the Women’s group, Ruth served as a Director-at-Large on the PWOF Board for about ten years, regularly lobbies in Tallahassee as part of the PWOF Legislative committee and is an integral part of the Florida Tow Show management team, assisting in organizing and managing the very large trade show.

On a national level, Ruth has been an active member of WTRAA since about 2003 and currently serves as 1st VP (since 2013). She chaired the TRAA TIM Committee (2011 – 2017) and was a member of the TRAA Education Foundation DVD sub-committee, having helped create two TRAA DVDs. She was named WTRAA Tow Woman of the Year in 2011 and recognized as one of the 40 Outstanding Industry Leaders in 2018 at the Towing and Recovery Association of Ohio Midwest Regional Tow Show.

Ruth is passionate about the International Towing Museum, having served on the board for close to ten years, many of which as Secretary. She has also volunteered for the Wall of the Fallen and Survivor Fund Committees and many know her as one of the voices reading names and information during the annual Wall of the Fallen Name Unveiling Ceremony.

Ruth not only commits personal time, money and energies to bettering the industry, she advocates that other towing companies do the same any opportunity she gets. She not only talks the talk but also walks the walk.
