Philip A. Kenny

Philip A. Kenny attended school at St Patrick’s College in East Melbourne. He then went on to pursue a career in photography. While he was working in his photography business, he also worked for Melbourne Towing as a receptionist and as a driver until 1956. He then began working for Town & Country Towing in 1957. Mr. Kenny was a part of many organizations including the Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce, or VACC, (1959), where he served as chairman (1970-1976), was a member of the board of management (1971) and executive board (1977), was both a junior vice president (1980-81) and a senior vice president (1981-83), and eventually became the president (1983-1985). Mr. Kenny was also a member of VACC’s Representative Victorian Congress of Employers’ Associations (1981-1985). He was on the Executive Committee of Towing Operators (1966), vice-chairman and chairman of the Towing Operators Division (1969-1971, 1971-1980), an industry representative on the Drivers’ Wage Board (1971-1980) and the Transport Regulation Board’s Inquiry Committee (1976-1985).

For his dedicated years of service to the towing industry and to his community, Mr. Kenny received the Victorian “Statewide” award in 1983.

Innovation of a product sold in the marketplace that has helped move the industry forward. Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of service to the industry.

Exemplary Dedication

Candidate must have 20 years running a towing business in an outstanding and exemplary manner, promoting a positive image of the towing industry and have positive relations with the community, i.e., performing services for the community about and beyond the services for hire. Limit: One inductee per year.

Industry Leadership

Leadership involved with an outstanding project that has had a dynamic and lasting effect on the towing industry. Candidate must have minimum 10 years service to the towing industry.

Professional Achievement

Creating a product or service of any kind that has had a significant and lasting effect on thousands of towing professionals. Candidate Must have a minimum of 10 years to the industry.
