Jeffrey P. Roskopf

Jeffrey Phillip Roskopf was born on July 18, 1955 at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas to Anthony and Diane Roskopf.  He is the oldest of five children and was raised in Menomonee Falls,Wisconsin.  His first job was working at the family owned Standard Station, pumping gas, washing windshields, checking oil and tire pressure and making sure the oil cans were stacked nice and straight on the shelves.  The lessons of hard work and attention to detail are something he carries with him today. Jeff attended St. Mary’sCatholicGrade Schooland Falls North High School\where in his freshman year; he became good friends with his auto shop teacher.  Although he was supposed to be attending other classes, he spent many hours working on other teacher’s cars.

In 1970, his Father added another location and in 1973 Jeff started to help manage the shop and added roadside assistance offering 24 hour towing with his first wrecker – a 1953 Ford F5 Ford with a Bill Bottoms body, as time evolved Jeff added the fleet and his real passion began to take foot. Jeff married Geri in 1979 and they started their family with two wonderful children, Greg and Jessi. In January 1984, their 24/7 full service business was born – Roskopf Service & Towing.  They eventually outgrew this location and moved into their current shop in 2000 – Jeff driving tow trucks and Geri managing the office.

Even though he was very busy, Jeff saw a need to become more involved in the towing industry.  He volunteered and has held several industry related positions including being a Board member of the Wisconsin Towing Association, serving as a Director and later Chairman of the Board, is on the Education and Convention Committees.  Over the years, his involvement in the Wisconsin Towing Association has consisted of a leadership role in the organization and implementation of most of the WTA’s initiatives and programs focused on legislation, education, convention, governance and membership.

He has been front and center on tow truck operator issues such as roadside safety and the “move over-slow down” law. In addition, statewide traffic incident management policies and procedures were vital areas he brought to the forefront.  He belongs to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation South East Regional Traffic Incident Management Enhancement Committee, also known as TIME, helping the Wisconsin Department of Transportation develop policies and procedures while helping law enforcement develop recommended minimum standards for towing and recovery. Jeff currently serves as the First Vice President of the Towing & Recovery Association of America and is the Membership Committee Chairman.  He has served as Vice President of the Friends of Towing and is a past Director of the Waupun Truckers Jamboree. His sense of volunteerism did not end at the lines of the industry.  Whether it’s getting cars for training of the local fire and police departments, providing a flatbed for Santa in the Knights of Columbus Christmas Parade, sponsoring a Little League baseball team, getting donations for the Tow Trucks for Tots Campaign, the Wisconsin Special Olympics Convoy or simply moving a playhouse for a daycare center, he is always willing to lend a helping hand.

Jeff has been recognized for his efforts earning the Wisconsin Towing Association Service Award, the TRAA Presidential Service Award, the Ford First Award and the Knights of Columbus Knight of the Month Award. Jeff attributes his success to his partner and wife, Geri, his family, fellow towers, friends, loyal customers and dedicated employees.

Innovation of a product sold in the marketplace that has helped move the industry forward. Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of service to the industry.

Exemplary Dedication

Candidate must have 20 years running a towing business in an outstanding and exemplary manner, promoting a positive image of the towing industry and have positive relations with the community, i.e., performing services for the community about and beyond the services for hire. Limit: One inductee per year.

Industry Leadership

Leadership involved with an outstanding project that has had a dynamic and lasting effect on the towing industry. Candidate must have minimum 10 years service to the towing industry.

Professional Achievement

Creating a product or service of any kind that has had a significant and lasting effect on thousands of towing professionals. Candidate Must have a minimum of 10 years to the industry.
