Evelyn M. Harden
Elected: April 14, 2000
Inducted: September 22, 2000
Evelyn and Jim Harden were married in December, 1961 and together they have raised two children, Cheri and Randy, although Cheri was lost to leukemia in 1977 at the age of 14 ½. Today, Randy is active in the family business, allowing Evelyn to pursue a variety of industry and community related interests.
In 1969, Evelyn and Jim purchased a small garage that offered limited towing services. Working together they greatly expanded operations and moved into new, larger facilities in 1989 from which they now offer a complete range of towing and transportation services. They joined TRAA, Friends of Towing and the CTTA and in 1981, Evelyn was instrumental in forming their local chapter of CTTA. Since that time she has served in every office of their chapter and is currently its Treasurer. At the state level, she has been on the Board of Directors for the past 19 years and is now CTTA’s 3rd Vice President. In 1998, Evelyn was recognized by CTTA as its Member of the Year. She was a co-founder of the Tow Ladies of California and still serves that group as its Treasurer.
With her husband Jim, they have received many commendations from the California Highway Patrol, Kern County Sheriff Department, Bakersfield Police Department, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, The Starlight Foundation, City and County D.A.R.E. Programs and also for their untiring fund raising efforts that have benefited a variety of community projects.
Although now retired from full time service, Evelyn Harden strives to improve the towing industry’s image and future through professionalism, education and legislation and has rightfully earned her place in the Towing & Recovery Hall of Fame.
