Derrick Marbury

Derrick Marbury was assisting a stranded motorist on the shoulder of the Interstate late the night of June 8, 2020. As a car approached, it slowed to protect the operator on the roadside.  The vehicle following the car that slowed swerved to the shoulder to avoid hitting the slowing car. As this driver swerved he hit the car in front and then slid into the tow truck.  Derrick saw the car was going to hit him and ran into the traffic lane to escape.  As a result, Derrick was struck by another motorist.  Derrick’s injuries were significant, and he was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind his five children.
