From his early days in towing, Terry sought to know more and to become more professional, attending various training sessions with Cruse, Jackson, Kinman and others.  In 1981, he became a member of the Towing & Recovery Professionals of Maryland and only a year later became a District Director and Member of the Board of Directors, a position he held for 8 years.  During this time, Maryland recognized Terry with their Most Outstanding Member award.
