Steve Edward Sedberry

Steven Sedberry was born in 1955 in Union City, TN. To John (Buddy) and June Sedberry. His love for trucks began at the age of 5 driving a pedal car around the yard! His father opened Buddy’s Esso when he was 8 and when he was 10 years old he went on his first recovery with his dad pulling a car out of a ditch with a pickup truck. (Probably not Wreckmaster approved!).

In 1973 Steve joined the family business and convinced his dad buying a tow truck would make it easier shortly thereafter! In 1996 he assumed control of the business and has grown it ever since to a 15,000 sq. ft. facility on 23 acres. Always having been an innovator and having the latest equipment and technology Steve also realizes that having good people is the recipe for success!

He has been a staunch advocate for training and supports and invests in it for all of his drivers and himself. His certifications and training courses comprise a long list of the industry’s top trainers. He has pledged his time to fight for the Tennessee towers at the legislature most recently stopping a bill that would have charged a $2,500 fee for anyone who towed a tractor trailer in the state.

Steve has been a member of the state associations the TTRP and the TTTA for years and has supported and received many accolades along the way from the community groups he supports and events he pledges time, equipment and employees towards. Buddy’s is well known for supporting the local schools, Rotary Club and a program called Trooper Island where less fortunate children can go for a week and be given a touch and a hope for a better tomorrow. Steve is a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner which accounts for his dedication to charitable work. In 2008 Buddy’s was recognized by the U.S. Local Business Association as the best business in Union City. Companies are recognized for enhancing a positive image of small business to their customers and community.
