Richard S. Daley
Richard S. Daley entered the towing industry in 1970 working part time on nights and weekend’s as he continued to strive to finish his high school education. He started working for A-1 Towing in 1973 successfully bought his first tow truck in 1976 and finally alongside his wife was able to purchase A-1 Towing in 1981. A-1 Towing is now an operation that specializes in heavy duty recovery as well as air cushion recoveries.
Richard has received extensive training from Ontario Recovery Group as well as acquiring a Level 67A with WreckMaster. He is also trained in working with hazardous materials and spills. Richard was one of the founding directors of the Canadian Towing Society back in 1985. Richard is currently a member of Ontario Recovery Group which he was president of in 1996-97. He is also a member of Provincial Towing Association, Automotive Transportation Services and Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.
Richard supports many local community events such as Berrisfield Community Baseball, Punch Bowl Country Market’s Annual Car Show, Motorcycle Ride for the Little Guys-Children’s Cancer Research and M3D Racing.
Richard has been awarded the Most Influential Opinion from WreckMaster in 2000. He has also been awarded the Outstanding Business Achievement Award in 1999 for ongoing Business Excellence in the City of Hamilton.
A-1 Towing continues to be a well respected business within the City of Hamilton and strives to promote good business ethics. Richard along with his supportive family and staff have vowed to continue to work towards the goal of having towing operators designated as First Responders.

Innovation of a product sold in the marketplace that has helped move the industry forward. Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of service to the industry.
Exemplary Dedication
Candidate must have 20 years running a towing business in an outstanding and exemplary manner, promoting a positive image of the towing industry and have positive relations with the community, i.e., performing services for the community about and beyond the services for hire. Limit: One inductee per year.
Industry Leadership
Leadership involved with an outstanding project that has had a dynamic and lasting effect on the towing industry. Candidate must have minimum 10 years service to the towing industry.
Professional Achievement
Creating a product or service of any kind that has had a significant and lasting effect on thousands of towing professionals. Candidate Must have a minimum of 10 years to the industry.
